Personal training at Iceni Training

At Iceni Training Colchester we aim to offer the highest level of coaching to all of our members through our CrossFit classes. We also offer specific weightlifting, gymnastics and endurance classes for those wishing to focus on a specific area of their fitness.

We understand that our class times as well as a class environment is not for everyone. For those that want to fast track their progress with 1-2-1 or small group personal training we offer that also.

I started Crossfit in my 40s to get fitter & shift a bit of weight but whilst I enjoyed it, I wasn’t really getting anywhere. I considered quitting but joined Iceni Training instead, hit a PB in my first session and have never looked back. From the moment I first walked in, the coaches and members alike were so friendly and supportive and 3 years later I’m still progressing, still learning & am loving my training more than ever.

Quite simply, I love this place! There’s always a great atmosphere in the gym and no matter what’s happened during the day, I always leave a workout happy and feeling like I’ve achieved something. All the coaches know their stuff and genuinely care about their members’ progress, always offering encouragement & always happy to offer advice. For me, there were a lot of areas I needed to work on. But through a mixture of classes and one to one sessions with Jan, I’m the fittest & strongest I’ve ever been. I love the process of breaking down a movement to work on technique, and have progressed in every movement – even getting my first kipping pull ups and my first handstand (my nemesis). Thanks to the nutritional support on offer, I also lost 16kg and now have a much healthier relationship with food. I’ve gained so much confidence along the way, even stepping out in front of people to take part in local competitions, something that would have been unthinkable before Iceni.

Life loves a curve ball though. At the end of last year I went into kidney failure and had to take some time out. The first place I visited after leaving hospital was Iceni (obviously!) & sitting on a bike that day slowly clocking up a massive 5 calories was the moment I need I was going to be ok. The road to recovery has been tough at times but the support I’ve received at Iceni has been phenomenal. From Jan programming training sessions for me, Tom making sure my nutrition is on point to members helping me with daily stuff like shopping, cooking & hospital visits, Iceni has played a fundamental part in getting me back on my feet and back to doing what I love.
