Iceni Training FAQ


I’m new to this, where should I start?
Our Iceni Training fundamentals programme is the place to start. These classes will provide you with the ideal way to learn the movements in a small class environment before joining a larger class. This is the perfect time to meet the coaches and for us to get to know you and your needs also.

To get you started, we offer a FREE WEEK, unlimited Iceni Training membership. This will give you access to our CrossFit classes and our fundamental classes and also to our full range of speciality classes. Then, if you sign up for membership, your first month will be discounted to £40.
I’m out of shape, will I be fit enough?
At Iceni Training we cater for all levels of fitness, from beginners to experienced athletes. It’s our role to help you to develop your strength and fitness level. Our expert coaches will tailor each session to your level so you can crush a great workout with the rest of our community.
Do I need to bring anything with me to class?
No special equipment or clothing is required, just come in your usual sportswear, a clean pair of trainers and bring some water! We do sell water if you forget a bottle.
Do I need to arrive early to class?
It’s a good idea to arrive 15 minutes early for your first class so that we can introduce ourselves, show you around and have a chat with you about any injuries or particular concerns that you may have. We will also run through and explain what will happen in your class and introduce you to the coach who will be leading it. After your first class, we recommend arriving 5-10 minutes before the class starts to make sure that you’re ready to go!
How often should I train with you?
This depends on the time that you want to commit to training, your objectives and your previous training experience. We recommend training three times a week if you are new to CrossFit. This will allow you plenty of time to recover between classes but is sufficient to enable you to make great improvements. And you can switch to one of our unlimited memberships at any time.


Do you allow drop-ins?

We love to welcome visitors from other gyms. Our drop-in fee is £12.50 (£10 if you have an existing Wodify account), which you can purchase here, and you can see our class schedule here.

I have CrossFit experience, can I train with you?
Yes, we welcome people with previous experience of CrossFit, weightlifting, strength sports or functional fitness training. If you do then you do not have to attend our fundamental sessions before joining our classes


Do you have showers?
We have one shower and we also offer a towel hire service. Unfortunately, until further notice, we can’t currently offer our towel rental service.
Is there somewhere I can store my belongings?
We have an shelving area at the front of the gym where you can leave your belongings while you train.


Am I tied into a long-term contract?
Our monthly memberships are all on 30 day auto-renew contracts, so you do not have any long-term commitment. To terminate, please make sure you email us over 30 days before your next payment to not incur a charge.
What happens if I need to cancel a class?
If you cancel a class 3 hours or more before the class begins through our Wodify app, you will not incur any penalties. If you cancel a class with less than 3 hours before the class, you will incur a £2.00 late penalty fee.
What happens if I don’t show up to a class I have booked?
If you do not show up to a class you have booked, you will incur a £2 no show fee. If you are on a class pack, you will lose that session from your pack.
What if I arrive late to a class?
We understand that Colchester traffic and life sometimes doesn’t always allow your day to go according to plan, so if you are running up to 15 minutes late for class, we will do our best to accommodate you and get you warmed up adequately to work out when you arrive.


Can I see the programming in advance?

The Iceni Training Programming for all of our classes is available at least one week in advance on our Wodify app so you can plan your week of training to suit your schedule and training goals.

I want my friend to try out Iceni Training, can I bring them along?

We love that you love Iceni Training, so if you have a friend who you think will enjoy what we offer at Iceni, you are more than welcome to bring them along to a class free of charge - just drop us an email!
